The superhero and his trusty sidekick

Every super hero has to have a trusty sidekick. Since Cole loves shows that involve people or animals being rescued, it's only natural that this comes out in his imaginative play.
His favorite part of the day is "playing" the characters with him.

Now that Bevin can go almost anywhere by cruising or crawling, Cole has gained a new playmate. This little playmate is willing to follow him almost anywhere and belly laughs the whole way. To watch the beginnings of a friendship happen is in itself an extraordinary thing.

For a while he and I would play milli and geo of the show Team Umizoomi. Bevin would "play" Bot, wherein she'd just kind of "be." But very recently he has started to portray Word Girl, his new favorite superhero on television. And he has named Bevin, Captain Huggyface, Word Girl's monkey sidekick. What's different about this game is that he now physically includes her. And how does he do this? By picking her up and dragging her around the house. First he started pulling her backwards around the house, but we had to put a stop to it when it became a problem at daycare. Otherwise - she loved it! Today he started dragging her around the house with her facing him. So she'd get on her knees and he'd slowly slide her along the floor by pulling her elbows or hands. All the while she'd be giggling and staring at me with big happy eyes.
